Startups, sustainability, and craftsmanship – you might not automatically think of the Philippines when you hear those words. But the country is actually a teeming hotbed for young, dynamic startups who are using fashion to eradicate poverty – and the rest of the world is taking notice.
Discover the world’s best-kept secret: Filipino entrepreneurship at FAIR TRADE, FASHION, PHILIPPINES on JULY 25 6PM at the Centre for Social Innovation (Annex). 12th Annual Kultura Filipino Arts Festival | Toronto | Daniels Spectrum
Filipino Fusion Desserts participated in Kain Kalye: Filipino Street Eats Competitor.
If you’ve never heard of Kultura, this is what they’re all about:
Kapisanan Philippine Centre for Arts & Culture is a youth-led, multiple award-winning, charitable community organization based in Toronto. We create a brave space for Filipino-Canadian youth, both second generation and newcomers, to overcome multiple barriers that prevent them from meaningful engagement in society. At Kapisanan, youth activate their creativity to explore identify, fostering pride and self-confidence, inspiring and empowering them to realize their full potential.
On Sunday, September 3 we will serve our desserts at the Lechon Festival located at Wynchwood Barns (Wychwood Barns, 601 Christie St, Toronto, ON M6G 4C7).
The Toronto Lechon Fiesta 2017 is a grand and colourful event that will bring the traditional Filipino Fiesta to the area in ways that will transport the visitor to the Philippines. It will be a showcase of Filipino culture that aims to strengthen the ties that bind Filipino-Canadians with the whole community.
The centerpiece of the fiesta, the “star of the show”, so to speak, will be the lechon in several forms – from whole roast pig to lechon manok and the humble yet succulent lechon kawali. Competitions involving various preparations of the dish will be held, along with cooking demonstrations, folk dances, arts and music.
